Environment pollution means the pollution of different elements of the environment. The main elements of the environment are water, air, land, animals and plants. When these elements are polluted it is called environment pollution. Water is called life because human beings, plants and animals cannot live without water. Water is polluted in many ways. Man pollutes water by throwing waste into it. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and insecticides in their fields. Then rain and floods wash away some of these chemicals.

They get mixed with water in rivers, canals and ponds. The water is polluted in this way. Mills and factories use many poisonous chemicals. They throw their waste products into rivers and canals and thus pollute water. Steamers, motor launches and even engine-driven boats pollute water by throwing oil, food waste and human waste into the rivers. Water is also polluted water. Polluted water causes water borne diseases like diarrhoea. It even causes death. 

We can prevent water pollution by taking some measures. Mills and factories must have treatment plants. The effluents must be treated before they fall into rivers and canals. We can also prevent water pollution by raising public awareness. The setting up of mills and factories on the river banks should be forbidden. And we must not build insanitary latrines on the banks of the rivers.

Clean water is healthy but contaminated water is very harmful. Nowadays water pollution is one of the serious problems that humanity faces. Water pollution refers to the pollution of water by dirt, waste or other substances. It can be polluted in many ways. After being washed away by rain or flood water, the water is contaminated using chemical fertilizers and various pesticides. Mills and factories dump their waste products into rivers and canals and thus contaminate the water.

Again motor launches, steamers pollute the water by dumping oil, food waste and human waste. Another aspect is the pollution of underground water by arsenic. By drinking this contaminated water we often get sick and even die. So, we must prevent, water pollution at any cost. Water can be purified by boiling it and using purifying tablets.
