Flood is an annual affair in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a low lying country. Almost every year flood occurs in our country. We generally think that flood is a curse of god. But it mainly caused by heavy rainfall in the rainy season. Bangladesh is full of rivers. Hundreds of rivers have criss-crossed the country. During the rainy season it rains heavily in our country. The rain water from the mountains flows down the rivers.

The rivers can not hold the water of the heavy rainfall. Then the water overflows the banks and the fields and land go under water. Sometimes the water of the river overflows human habitation. Flood causes heavy damage to our life and property. It sweeps over villages and towns. Streets, roads and houses go under water. Trees are uprooted. It washes away crops and makes people homeless. After flood the price of our daily necessaries goes up very high. The flood affected areas become muddy and unhealthy. 
So various kinds of diseases such as cholera, and dysentery break out in an epidemic from. During flood the government and many organizations distribute money, food, cloths to the affected people. Medical team also visit the area and give people medical treatment. The government should take proper steps to control flood. The silted up mouths and beds of the rivers should be dredged so that excess water may flow to the sea easily. More dams should be constructed on the banks of the rivers.

Introduction: Bangladesh is land of rivers. Most of her lands are low-lying. As a result, she is often visited by floods. Sometimes there are floods for some days and even for months.

Causes: The main reason of causing floods is heavy rain full. The water of the heavy rainfall gives rise to over flow of the rivers and rushes away both the sides. Earthquakes often cause floods. Heavy rush of water from the mountains also causes floods. In Bangladesh floods are caused due to heavy rains.

Damages: Floods cause great havoc. They wash away houses, cattle, crops and uproot trees. People become homeless. They suffer much. Their normal life is disturbed. They remain without food for days together. The after effects of floods are more serious. People do not get pure drinking water. Famine breaks out. May die-for want of food. Many fatal diseases like cholera, dysentery, diarrhea etc. Break out. The sufferings of people know bound.

Usefulness: Floods do us some good. The flood water brings much silt and makes our land alluvial and fertile.

Flood control: As floods visit us every year we must try to stop floods River-beds should be depended to make the regular flow of water. Embankments should be made.

Introduction: Bangladesh is a low land. It has many river. She is also in the monsoon area. It rains heavily during the monsoon period. So floods are very common in our country. Almost every year flood visits our country.

Causes of flood: There are many reasons for floods. Heavy rainfall is the main cause. The rivers over flow their banks when it rains a lot. Sometimes, water comes from the mountains and makes floods worse. Cyclones and bro ken dams also cause floods.

Effects of floods: Floods cause a lot of damage, House, roads, schools and crops go underwater. Many people loss their homes and food-Diseases like diarrhea and cholera spread after foods. Roads and bridges break down. Floods also destroy crops, trees and animals.
Sufferings of people: People suffer much during floods. They take shelter on roads schools and embankments. Many people like without flood and clean water. Relief work is done by the government and kind people.

Advantages: Though floods cause harm they have some benefits too. Flood water makes the land fertile by carrying silt. Fish and plants grow well after floods.

Ways to control floods: We can control floods by building strong dams, embankments and proper drainage systems. Trees should be planted beside rivers.

Conclusion: Floods are a great problem in Bangladesh. We must take steps to reduce their damage and help people during floods.

Causes of flood: Flood is generally caused by excessive rainfall. The water of this heavy rainfall gives rise to overflow of the river. It then remains standing for days together and then washes away both the sides.

The damages of flood: Flood is the natural calamity of Bangladesh. Houses and cattles are also destroyed by it. Sometimes up rooted trees are also found flowing in the current of the river. Fields and roads go under water. The sufferings of men knows no bound due to shortage of food. Famine and diseases break out. People become homeless.

After effect of flood: After flood famine breaks out. The price of all daily necessaries goes up very high. The flood affected areas become muddy and unhealthy. So various types of diseases, such as cholera and typhoid break out. If the flood lasts for a short perlod. It brings some good too. It fertiles the land.

Conclusion: In Bangladesh floods cause a huge loss, almost every year. So it has become urgently necessary to take proper steep to stop flood. we should co-operate our government in controlling flood. May Bangladesh be saved from the havoc of flood.

Flood is one of the most common natural calamities in Bangladesh. In the rainy season, sometimes heavy rainfall overflows the bank of river and submerges many low lying area of Bangladesh. This is called flood. Again, water from the upstream may cause flood. It occurs almost every year in Bangladesh. It causes great havocs to millions of people. Though floods occur every year in Bangladesh, sometimes it takes terrible shape. The resent serious floods occured in 1985, 1988, 1991, 1996 and 1999. 
These terrible floods affected millions of people and engulfed. Most areas of the country and the miseries of the people knew no bounds. The damages caused by flood are beyond description. It destroys crops houses and many other valuable things. Cattle die because they do not get food. They lose their shed during flood. people suffer very much. Railway lines and roads go under water. Transportation system is hampered seriously. The most dangerous things are different kinds of diseases which attack the affected people. Diarrhoea, Cholera, typhoid, and dysentery are the main diseases during flood. Sometimes, mass death occurs for these diseases, flood has one good effect. It makes soil fertile by supplying alluvial soil. 

Crops grow in plenty next year after the flood. Another good side of flood is volunteer organizations. The members of the organizations collect foods, cloths, medicine and distribute them among the affected people. It is time we took preventive steps to reduce the loss of flood. More and more shelters for the affected people should be built. The concerned authority should develop better system of irrigation, trans portation and embankments to control flood.
