International Mother language day paragraph for class 6-12

The 21st of February is the International Mother language day. Every nation has remarkable achievements that they can take pride in it. Our language day is our national event and success. Now, after the identification, our language day observes globally as international mother language day. The ruling authority of west Pakistan recognized Urdu as the state language of Pakistan in 1948 and tried to impose it on the Bangla speaking majority people. The ruling authority imposed section 144 all over the country as the protest grew powerful. However, when students politicians and general masses brought out a procession in Dhaka University area defying section 144, the police imposed fire on the parade.

As a result, Rafiq, Jabbar, Salam, Barkat, Shafiq met martyrdom. Finally, Bangla recognized as the state language. On 17 November 1999, UNESCO declared that UNESCO would observe the day internationally. Through UNESCO recognition our language day got international status. Since 1952, the 21st February is obeyed as the language day in our nation. We memorialize our martyrs. Bangladesh is the only country in the world to sacrifice lives for mother language. The international mother language day is an excellent recognition of our history and our achievement.

বাংলা অর্থ: ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি হলো আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। প্রতিটি জাতিরই অসাধারণ অর্জন আছে যা তারা গর্ব করতে পারে। আমাদের ভাষা দিবস আমাদের জাতীয় অনুষ্ঠান এবং সাফল্য। এখন, স্বীকৃতির পর, আমাদের ভাষা দিবস বিশ্বব্যাপী আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসেবে পালন করা হয়। পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের শাসকগোষ্ঠী ১৯৪৮ সালে উর্দুকে পাকিস্তানের রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেয় এবং বাংলাভাষী সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ জনগণের উপর তা চাপিয়ে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করে। প্রতিবাদ তীব্র হওয়ায় শাসকগোষ্ঠী সারা দেশে ১৪৪ ধারা জারি করে। তবে, ছাত্র রাজনীতিবিদ এবং সাধারণ জনগণ ১৪৪ ধারা অমান্য করে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এলাকায় মিছিল বের করলে পুলিশ কুচকাওয়াজে গুলি চালায়।

ফলস্বরূপ, রফিক, জব্বার, সালাম, বরকত, শফিক শহীদ হন। অবশেষে বাংলা রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি পায়। ১৭ই নভেম্বর ১৯৯৯ সালে ইউনেস্কো ঘোষণা করে যে ইউনেস্কো আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে দিবসটি পালন করবে। ইউনেস্কোর স্বীকৃতির মাধ্যমে আমাদের ভাষা দিবস আন্তর্জাতিক মর্যাদা লাভ করে। ১৯৫২ সাল থেকে, আমাদের দেশে ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি ভাষা দিবস হিসেবে পালন করা হয়। আমরা আমাদের শহীদদের স্মরণ করি। বাংলাদেশই পৃথিবীর একমাত্র দেশ যেখানে মাতৃভাষার জন্য জীবন উৎসর্গ করা হয়েছে। আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস আমাদের ইতিহাস এবং আমাদের অর্জনের একটি চমৎকার স্বীকৃতি।

Language is the best medium to express one's thoughts. People communicate through their mother tongue. There is an inseparable relationship between people and their mother tongue. We are the Bengali nation, Bengal is our mother tongue. On February 21, 1952, all Bengalis fought to protect the dignity of this language. Salam, Barkat, Jabbar, Rafiq had to lose their lives to protect the dignity of the Bengali language. The sacrifice of the Bengali nation for the mother tongue has been elevated to a higher status by UNESCO through the recognition of International Mother Language Day.

বাংলা অর্থ: মনের ভাব প্রকাশের সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট মাধ্যম হলো ভাষা। মানুষ তার মাতৃভাষার মাধ্যমেই মনের ভাব আদান-প্রদান করে থাকে। মা ও মাতৃভাষার সঙ্গে মানুষের অবিচ্ছেদ্য সম্পর্ক বিদ্যমান। আমরা বাঙালি জাতি, বাংলা আমাদের মাতৃভাষা। ১৯৫২ সালের ২১-এ ফেব্রুয়ারি এ ভাষার মর্যাদা রক্ষার্থে সংগ্রাম করেছিল আপামর বাঙালি। বাংলা ভাষার মর্যাদা রক্ষা করতে প্রাণ হারাতে হয়েছিলো সালাম, বরকত, জব্বার, রফিককে। মাতৃভাষার জন্যে বাঙালি জাতির আত্মদান ইউনেস্কো কর্তৃক আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের স্বীকৃতির মধ্যে দিয়ে আরও উচ্চতর মর্যাদায় অভিসিক্ত হয়েছে।

Background of International Mother Language Day: On February 21, 1952, the people of East Bengal gained the status of Bengali through blood. The language of the majority of the people of the then Pakistan was Bengali. But the Pakistani ruling class chose the path of cultural domination over the people of East Bengal. They declared that Urdu would be the only state language of Pakistan, which was the mother tongue of only 7 percent of the people. The entire East Bengal united in protest against this ill-considered decision.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের পটভূমি: ১৯৫২ সালের ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারিতে পূর্ববাংলার জনগণ রক্তের বিনিময়ে অর্জন করেছিল বাংলার মর্যাদা। তদানীন্তন পাকিস্থানের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ মানুষের মানুষের ভাষা ছিল বাংলা। কিন্তু পাকিস্তানি শাসকগোষ্ঠী পূর্ববাংলার জনগণের ওপর সাংস্কৃতিক আধিপত্য বিস্তার করার পথ বেছে নেয়। তারা ঘোষণা করে উর্দুই হবে একমাত্র পাকিস্তানের রাষ্ট্রভাষা, যা কিনা ছিল মাত্র ৭শতাংশ লোকের মাতৃভাষা। এই অবিবেচনাপ্রসূত সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদে ঐক্যবদ্ধ হয় সমগ্র পূর্ববাংলা।

Bengalis declared that all mother languages ​​​​deserve to be respected. Therefore, along with Urdu, Bengali should also be given the status of the state language. But the Pakistani ruling class opened fire on the protesting students to thwart the just demands of Bengalis. Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar and many others were martyred in this. The movement intensified, and the whole of Bengal erupted in anger. The terrified government was forced to recognize Bengali as one of the state languages. Since then, February 21 has been celebrated as Martyr's Day every year in memory of the martyrs. The spirit of February 21 inspired the Bengalis to fight for their freedom. 

বাঙালি ঘোষণা করেন, সকল মাতৃভাষাই মর্যাদা লাভের অধিকারী। তাই উর্দুর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বাংলাকেও দিতে হবে রাষ্ট্রভাষার মর্যাদা। কিন্তু পাকিস্তানি শাসকগোষ্ঠী বাঙালির নায্য দাবি নসাৎ করার জন্যে আন্দোলনরত ছাত্রজনতার ওপর গুলি চালায়। এতে শহিদ হন সালাম, বরকত, রফিক, জব্বারসহ আরও অনেকে। আন্দোলন আরও তীব্র হয়, গর্জে ওঠে সারা বাংলা। আতঙ্কিত সরকার সরকার বাধ্য হয়ে বাংলাকে অন্যতম রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেয়। এরপর থেকে শহিদের স্মরণে প্রতি বছর ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারি শহিদ দিবস হিসেবে পালিত হয়। ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারির চেতনাই বাঙালিকে স্বাধিকার আন্দোলনে উদ্বুদ্ধ করে।

It was through this struggle that the establishment of independent Bangladesh was possible. In a resolution unanimously adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on November 17, 1999, it was stated that; In recognition of the unprecedented sacrifice made for the mother tongue in Bangladesh on February 21, 1952 and in memory of those who gave their lives on that day, it is proposed to declare the day as International Mother Language Day. Accepting that proposal, UNESCO declared February 21 as International Mother Language Day.

এই সংগ্রামের পথ ধরেই স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশ প্রতিষ্ঠা সম্ভব হয়েছে। জাতিসংঘের শিক্ষা, বিজ্ঞান ও সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক সংস্থা ইউনেস্কোর সাধারণ অধিবেশনে ১৯৯৯ সালের ১৭ই নভেম্বর সর্বসম্মতভাবে গৃহীত এক প্রস্তাবে বলা হয়; ১৯৫২ সালের ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারি বাংলাদেশে মাতৃভাষার জন্য অভূতপূর্ব আত্মত্যাগের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ এবং সেদিন যাঁরা প্রাণ দিয়েছিলেন তাঁদের স্মৃতির উদ্দেশ্য দিনটিকে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস ঘোষণার প্রস্তাব করা হচ্ছে। সেই প্রস্তাব গ্রহণ করে ইউনেস্কো ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারিকে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসেবে ঘোষণা করেন।

Language is the bearer and carrier of a country's cultural heritage. The UNESCO conference explained the need to celebrate International Mother Language Day and said; Language is the most powerful tool in preserving cultural heritage. The introduction of mother tongue will not only encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education, but will also contribute to the understanding and development of cultural heritage. 

The significance of International Mother Language Day is to give due respect to every mother language, especially to protect weak and obsolete mother languages ​​from extinction, and not to try to impose dominance over any language because it is weak. On this day, every language-speaking person will love their own mother language as well as the mother languages ​​of other nations. In this way, people will get the inspiration to love their mother language.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের তাৎপর্য: ভাষা একটি দেশের সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যের ধারক ও বাহক। ইউনেস্কোর সম্মেলনে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস পালনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা ব্যাখ্যা করে বলা হয়; সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য সংরক্ষণে ভাষা হচ্ছে সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী হাতিয়ার। মাতৃভাষার প্রচলন কেবল ভাষাগত বৈচিত্র্য, বহুভাষাভিত্তিক শিক্ষাকেই উৎসাহিত করবে না, তা সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যের অনুধাবন ও উন্নয়নের ক্ষেত্রেও অবদান রাখবে। 

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের তাৎপর্য হলো প্রতিটি মাতৃভাষাকে যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদা দেওয়া, বিশেষ করে দুর্বল ও জীর্ণ মাতৃভাষাগুলিকে বিলুপ্তির হাত থেকে রক্ষা করা, দুর্বল বলে কোনো ভাষার ওপর প্রভুত্ব আরোপের অপচেষ্টা না করা। এ দিবসে প্রত্যেক ভাষাভাষী মানুষ নিজের মাতৃভাষাকে যেমন ভালোবাসবে তেমনি অন্য জাতির মাতৃভাষাকেও মর্যাদা দেবে। এভাবে একুশকে ধারণ করে মাতৃভাষাকে ভালোবাসার প্রেরণা পাবে মানুষ।

Bengali as a mother language: UNESCO decided to celebrate International Mother Language Day worldwide since 2000 and invited member countries to recommend a date for Mother Language Day. Like other countries, Bangladesh also presented the significance of celebrating the day to the United Nations and mentioned the most glorious date for the language. Only Bengalis gave their lives and fought for the language. Because of this blood donation and self-sacrifice, the United Nations recognized the date proposed by Bangladesh as International Mother Language Day.

মাতৃভাষা হিসেবে বাংলা: ইউনেস্কো ২০০০ সাল থেকে বিশ্বে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস পালনের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে সদস্য দেশগুলোর কাছে মাতৃভাষা দিবসের তারিখ নির্ণয়ের সুপারিশ চেয়ে আহ্বান করে। অন্যান্য দেশের মতো বাংলাদেশও দিবসটি পালনের তাৎপর্য জাতিসংঘে উপস্থাপন করে এবং ভাষার জন্যে সবচেয়ে গৌরবজনক তারিখটি উল্লেখ করে। ভাষার জন্যে জীবন দিয়েছে, যুদ্ধ করেছে একমাত্র বাঙালিরা। এ রক্তদান, আত্মহুতির কারণেই বাংলাদেশের প্রস্তাবিত তারিখটিকেই জাতিসংঘ আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেয়।

Mother language means a language that is used by the people of a country to express their ideas, thoughts, feelings and emotions. The 21 February is the International Mother language day. It is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh. Our mother language day has a glorious historical background. Then Pakistani rulers wanted to impose Urdu as the state language upon us instead of Bangla. But the heroic sons of our country protested it. The students brought out a procession on 21st February in 1952 and the police opened fire on the procession and Salam, Jabber, Barkat, Rafiq died on the spot. For this reason, this day is observed as International Mother language day. Every year we remember this day with profound respect. 

On this day, everybody holds a black badge and walk to the shaheed Minar barefooted. They go there to offer flowers on the altar of the shaheed Minar to show respect to the martyrs. Different social, cultural and political parties observe the day. The day is a government holiday. Bangladesh betar and various TV channels broadcast special programs on this occasion. UNESCO declared the day as International Mother language day, on November 17 in 1999. The day is very important for the people of Bangladesh. We are proud of this day.

বাংলা অর্থ: মাতৃভাষা বলতে এমন একটি ভাষা বোঝায় যা একটি দেশের মানুষ তাদের ধারণা, চিন্তাভাবনা, অনুভূতি এবং আবেগ প্রকাশের জন্য ব্যবহার করে। ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। এটি বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে একটি লাল অক্ষরের দিন। আমাদের মাতৃভাষা দিবসের একটি গৌরবোজ্জ্বল ঐতিহাসিক পটভূমি রয়েছে। তখন পাকিস্তানি শাসকরা বাংলার পরিবর্তে আমাদের উপর উর্দুকে রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে চাপিয়ে দিতে চেয়েছিল। কিন্তু আমাদের দেশের বীর সন্তানরা এর প্রতিবাদ করে। ১৯৫২ সালের ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি ছাত্ররা একটি মিছিল বের করে এবং পুলিশ মিছিলে গুলি চালায় এবং সালাম, জব্বার, বরকত, রফিক ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা যান। এই কারণে, এই দিনটি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসেবে পালিত হয়। প্রতি বছর আমরা এই দিনটিকে গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করি।

এই দিনে, সবাই কালো ব্যাজ ধারণ করে এবং খালি পায়ে শহীদ মিনারের দিকে হেঁটে যায়। তারা শহীদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে শহীদ মিনারের বেদীতে ফুল দিতে সেখানে যায়। বিভিন্ন সামাজিক, সাংস্কৃতিক এবং রাজনৈতিক দল দিবসটি পালন করে। দিনটি একটি সরকারি ছুটির দিন। বাংলাদেশ বেতার এবং বিভিন্ন টিভি চ্যানেল এই উপলক্ষে বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠান সম্প্রচার করে। ১৯৯৯ সালের ১৭ নভেম্বর ইউনেস্কো এই দিনটিকে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসেবে ঘোষণা করে। এই দিনটি বাংলাদেশের মানুষের জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। আমরা এই দিনটির জন্য গর্বিত।
